Chief James P. Doane, PhD is the Owner/Operator of Security Institute since 1981. He is an honorably discharged Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States’ Navy River Patrol. Chief holds a Master Texas Peace Officer and Instructor’s Certificate and has forty years of experience in law enforcement. James is a graduate of Sam Houston State University’s Leadership Command College, Columbia Pacific University, Lamar University, USDE Central Training Academy, US Secret Service Diplomate Protection Course, Houston Police Academy’s SWAT Commander’s Course, and many other career courses.After retiring from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department as Chief Deputy, continued to maintain his license with the Department. He went onto teaching at Lamar Institute of Technology. After the terrorist attack on 9/11/01 he developed the first Homeland Security (HMSY), Crime Scene Technician (HMSYCST), Criminal Justice Security Threat Group (CJSTG) degree programs in Texas. He retired as a tenured Assistant Professor and Director of HMSY and CJ degree programs.
Captain Danny Walker is the Owner/Operator and Chief Firearms Instructor of Southeast Texas Training Institute. He is also the Owner of the East Texas Tactical Firearms Training School and is certified as a Texas Online Provider for the State of Texas to offer LTC Certification Online. He has been in the Law Enforcement profession since 1993. He holds a Master Peace Officer’s Certificate, TCOLE Firearms Certification as well as an Advanced Instructor’s License and Texas CHL/LTC Instructors Certificate. He has taught numerous courses and firearms courses in his career, including law enforcement, SWAT, basic, intermediate, and advanced handgun, AR-15 type rifle shooting, patrol rifle, and shotgun courses and is an armorer for both Glock and AR-15 weapon systems. Captain Walker has been a SWAT Officer for 12 years, 10 of which were spent as the team’s Sniper and Assistant Commander.
